Music Personality Arena

Replacing questionnaires with song battles that reveal a music personality and signature Top 8

Interactive Experience Product Case / 07

Music Personality Arena does not ask what you like in a questionnaire; it lets preference emerge through a sequence of song battles.

Users enter through an artist or theme, choose songs instinctively, and receive a music personality, preference signals, and a Top 8 list. A lightweight entertainment interaction becomes a complete, shareable challenge loop.

01

The public site is live with artist search and theme-based entry points.

02

Two- or four-track battles progressively narrow the field to a Top 8.

03

The report includes a personality type, preference tags, four metrics, and a signature-song list.

04

Results can generate a share poster and challenge link; a 720p product demo appears at the end of the case.

Turn Preference Elicitation into Play

Conventional music quizzes rely on self-description, yet people often cannot articulate taste. The product reduces the task to which tracks to keep, replacing abstract claims with low-friction repeated choices.

Artist entry serves explicit fandom while themes serve contexts such as late night, commuting, and heartbreak. Loading, previewing, choosing, advancing, reporting, and sharing form one uninterrupted emotional journey.

A Report That Explains Choices

Personality is assembled from visible signals such as era, catalog position, and title semantics, then explained through emotion, hook, deep-cut, and freshness metrics. It is playful interpretation, not a psychological assessment.

The result preserves the Top 8, a downloadable poster, and a reusable challenge URL so users can express identity and invite friends to make different choices from the same source.

PROCESS

Key Decisions

01

Use choices instead of questionnaires

Each step asks for a concrete song choice, reducing cognitive load and keeping the result traceable to behavior.

02

Converge first, explain second

Battles create a ranking; the report translates that ranking into language users can understand and share.

03

Make sharing the next entry point

The poster supports expression while the challenge URL continues interaction, avoiding a dead-end result image.

Role & Collaboration

I led positioning, the core loop, battle rules, report structure, sharing loop, and responsive experience, while separating playful outcomes from evidentiary claims.

AI supported parts of prototype engineering, copy organization, and consistency checks; I owned product trade-offs, experience pacing, and release acceptance.

Validation, Outcome & Reflection

The public site completes the primary flow from entry and battles to report and sharing.

The current personality rules support entertainment and expression; they are not psychological conclusions backed by research samples.

A lightweight AI product does not have to begin with content generation; a well-designed choice process can itself create distinctive, shareable value.
